What Cookies We Use
Uptime Monitor uses a minimal set of cookies and browser storage mechanisms to provide core functionality. We prioritize your privacy and do not use any third-party tracking cookies.
- Session Cookies — Temporary cookies that maintain your session state while browsing the platform.
- Authentication Token (localStorage) — A JWT (JSON Web Token) stored in your browser's localStorage to keep you logged in between sessions.
- Theme Preference (localStorage) — Your selected theme (dark or light mode) is saved so the platform remembers your preference.
Essential Cookies
These cookies and storage items are strictly necessary for the platform to function. Without them, core features will not work:
- Authentication JWT — Stored in localStorage after login. Required to authenticate API requests and access your dashboard, monitors, and settings. Removed when you log out.
- Session State — Maintains your active session to prevent you from being logged out during normal use.
- CSRF Protection — Security tokens used to protect against cross-site request forgery attacks.
Preference Cookies
These storage items remember your choices to provide a personalized experience:
- Theme Setting — Stores your dark/light mode preference in localStorage so the correct theme loads on every page visit.
- Dashboard Layout — Remembers your dashboard configuration, widget arrangement, and display preferences.
- Notification Preferences — Stores your browser notification permission state.
No Third-Party Tracking
Uptime Monitor does not use any third-party tracking cookies. Specifically:
- No Google Analytics or similar analytics tracking scripts
- No advertising cookies or retargeting pixels
- No social media tracking widgets
- No cross-site tracking of any kind
- No data sold or shared with advertisers
We believe in respecting your privacy. The only data we store in your browser is what is strictly needed to operate the platform and remember your preferences.
How to Manage Cookies
You have full control over cookies and local storage in your browser:
- Browser Settings — Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their privacy settings. Refer to your browser's help documentation for instructions.
- Clear localStorage — You can clear localStorage through your browser's developer tools (usually F12 > Application > Local Storage).
- Log Out — Logging out of Uptime Monitor will remove the authentication token from localStorage.
- Incognito/Private Mode — Using private browsing mode will prevent cookies and localStorage from persisting between sessions.
Please note that disabling essential cookies or clearing localStorage will require you to log in again and may reset your preferences.
